In the latest version of its system for mobile devices, Apple has gone from supporting 32-bit applications. Only 64-bit versions can be launched in iOS 11. This change is not sudden. Apple sought it gradually and repeatedly informed the creators of the application about what the introduction of a new system will mean. Therefore, although you can still find many unstable applications, most iOS users should not feel any inconveniences related to it.

– This problem is basically only about quite old applications. For several good years, by releasing iOS applications or updating existing ones, both versions are placed in the App Store: both 32- and 64-bit – explains Jakub Niwisior, head of the mobile application department at Embiq. – In my opinion, the problem is a bit “blown”, but someone who is very attached to the game installed a few years ago and an unsalted game or other application, will probably be dissatisfied.

Looking from the programming side, adapting even an old, 32-bit application to the latest iOS version is of course possible, but it can be a time-consuming and troublesome task. – In order for the application to work again, it must be rebuilt with support for 32 and 64 bits. In XCODE, a standard programming environment for iOS, this happens “from the machine” and has been standard for several years. However, if the application is old, then it usually turns out to be very complicated. Elements that worked a long time ago, now probably will not work. It is therefore possible that if you have an application on your device, which the creator has not made available in the 64-bit version (so he has not paid attention to it for a long time), you will not wait. How do you check that the application is adapted to the latest version of the system? First of all, if we try to run the 32-bit application, this device with iOS 11 will notify us that this application requires updated.
