Review of the application for making quick purchases: Wolt, Lisek, Swyft and Jok
Polish e-commerce is growing like yeast, and consumers are increasingly demanding in terms of waiting time to deliver purchases. Therefore, Dark Store supermarkets promise a record short delivery time.
The estimated value of online sales could amount to up to PLN 100 billion, which means that the turnover of Polish e-commerce increased by 60% in 2020 (report „ e-commerce, evolution or revolution?” prepared by BNP Paribas Real Estate).
Long waiting for delivery is the most common problem seen during online purchases. Shortening the delivery time could still conquer the popularity of online shopping. 1/3 of the respondents said that the shorter delivery time would increase the frequency of shopping online.
It is not surprising that shopping companies do everything to make orders go to customers immediately, which would not be possible without commercial outlets somewhat mysteriously referred to as the Dark Store.
What is Dark Store?
The term Dark Store is a bit misleading, because in fact It is not a store, but a warehouse that only serves orders made online. Employees employed there complete orders, and the street customer has no entry. Due to the fact that employees do not have to serve customers, they are able to complete and send the order faster.
The Dark Store format has spread the earliest in Western Europe and the United States, but also operates in Central Europe, including in Poland. The facilities can have a different area, from a small – How does it take. Żabka, to objects with an area of tens of thousands of square meters. To improve work, alleys and products storage are numbered, and the application tells employees how to move to complete the order as soon as possible.
At the beginning it was 30 minutes
We would like to remind you that in July 2021 the introduction of the own network of own supermarkets in Poland in the Dark Store format announced the Finnish Wolt platform, providing food from restaurants and shopping ordered online. Let’s check how he fulfilled these announcements.
Currently, as we read on the company’s website, the store is open from 8:00 to 23:00. It provides vegetables and fruits, food and chemistry. The customer has a free delivery when ordering from PLN 150. Delivery lasts an average of 30-40 minutes in Warsaw, 25-35 minutes in Krakow and Poznań, it can be considered that Wolt Market fulfills the promise made to clients two months ago.
Goods with delivery in about 60 minutes can be ordered via the InPost Fresh application, to which the first necessity is provided by a macro store chain.

You can faster
A much shorter delivery time is offered by a mobile application Fox, In 10 minutes he promises to provide grocery shopping to the inhabitants of areas located in five districts of Warsaw (Ursynów, Wilanów, Kabaty, Dolny Mokotów and Ochota). Shopping is transported by electric bikes. Lisek is one of the youngest players on the delivery market, he made his debut a year ago. Is an entity independent of the retail chains operating in the Dark Store format.
The application is free, and delivery costs PLN 2.99, and when ordering over PLN 50 is free. There are also promotions: if the customer signs into a company newsletter, he will receive discount codes. With the value of the order over PLN 100, the customer gets a 10% discount on the whole basket. Orders can be placed every day from 8:00 to 23:00. Importantly, shopping is also delivered on non -commercial Sundays.
Liska’s competitors are pushing in the capital’s market. in. Swine and Yocker. The first one works in a similar area (Śródmieście, Powiśle, Mokotów, Ursynów, Żoliborz), while the supply range and scale of the second operation are much larger and go beyond Poland, in Google Play the application of the yoks has been downloaded over 100,000 times, and in Poland and in the world Apparently 100 warehouses were opened (in Europe, the United States and Latin America).
In both applications you can order the most urgent everyday goods, but JOK is distinguished by a lack of delivery costs and a minimum order amount. The facilities must be close to buyers, because the business model assumes that purchases will be delivered to the customer within 10-15 minutes.
Instead of a second fridge
The short delivery time makes it Dark Store becomes our second fridge, Which translates into many benefits: more space at home (there is no second fridge), we do not buy a second or larger fridge and we do not pay for electricity, the goods come to us alone, so we have time for other things, etc. We use as customers significantly. That’s what it is about: that technology would be on people’s services, not the other way around. So our hands on the keyboards, let’s shop and count the time in which the articles ordered will go to our first fridge.
